Bars and Restaurants
« on: February 25, 2010, 01:12:03 PM »
We are in the process of distributing questionnaires to bars and restaurants, within the naturist zone, within easy walking distance and a little further afield.  When we get them back, all the information will be collated into a new page on the website - so this will be a feature written by the establishments explaining what they are trying to offer / achieve.  Tony is looking forward to following this up with a visit to them all to take photos (it's a hard life for us all).
You are welcome to post reviews and opinions of your experiences on this forum, but remember, as a simple courtesy, don't complain about anything if you haven't complained at the time to the establishment - and as website owners can be sued over defamatory statements, we do reserve the right, on this occasion, to edit disproportionate postings.  If you have had very negative experiences, perhaps it would be best to use 'personal messaging' to the administrators and if it is justified we will remove the establishment's information - does that seem fair?

I would just like to add my comments. This is by no means meant to interpreted as censorship, what we are asking is that sense be used and don't use the forum as a tool to unneccesarily slag off any individuals or businesses.

Repeated here is part of my original welcome message "We hope that we won't have to impose any rules on this forum so post anything you like but please have respect for other members" in otherwords please don't use the forum to slander, anybody we the website owners and administrators are responsible for the content.

We view that censorship as not part of the culture of this forum and it will only exercised under extreme conditions

End of rant, lets keep up the lighter side of VP life

Hi all,
I would have thought that John & Maureen's "personal restaurant guide" from their LaMenara website would be a good starting point as it comes across as being impartial, objective and (by my personal experiances) accurate. However, whilst some specifically mention that they are naturist, perhaps if you were to clarify the owners official standing (either way) on the issue for each and every establishment ?
On that point, I still don't quite have my head around the expression "naturist friendly" !
Regards, Phil

We are in the process of gathering questionnaires from bars and restaurants within walking distance to the playa - from their own perspectives!  We have now delivered dozens of questionnaires and are in the process of collecting / collating them.  Watch this space!

Well, the questionnaire gathering is going at a pace - if only our livers can survive! Seems rude to not have a drink!  And the take-up of Naturist - Si signs has been surprisingly good!  To date, El Balconcito, El Jardin, Blue Parrot, Frankie's - visiting Bonito's today.  So we should all know where we stand this summer.

The Vera Natura Chiringuito (in recent years called Sol Y Luna - and other things) - has re-opened again as the Vera Natura Chiringuito.  At first the colours seem rather 'in your face' - blue and orange - but they carry the theme through the T shirts for staff - it all links in to the original logo for Vera - and it works!  We have been there this afternoon, lovely sunny day, and it was just like old times ( 4 or 5 years ago) - with 'sundowners' in the greenhouse, catching the last rays! Prices are extremely competitive, including tapas - an old favourite - re-born!  The public facilities - notably the toilets - are much improved - definitely not smelly! The people who have taken over the premises are from the north - the basque country. look forward to special evenings that reflect this tradition.  Even better news, it's 'solo naturista', apart from the corner of the restaurant which has been screened off and in this part (maybe 25% of the restaurant - furthest from the bar) textiles are permitted.  And, a first for Vera Playa - on bills over 25euro a 10% discount is payable to holders of INF cards.
The side bar is having the coating taken off the windows, one half will be for massages I believe.  And work has started to repair the wooden beach bar in front of it - watch this space for other up-dates.  Good News!

Does this mean that the cancelled "Winter Show" may now be able to go ahead? I know that finding a suitable large venue was a problem, but the re-opening of this place could mean that the "Winter Show" could be the "Spring Show" for this year.
We always miss it, as we can never get to VP at the right time, but if held in April, one of us might manage to see it this time.

All the old rickety boards have gone, it's been concreted and painted - looks fine.  There is a wooden toldo over the front.  They are presently doing up the wooden beach bar that got damaged by the floods.  All looking a lot better.  Have photos - will post later.
