buying food items
« on: February 03, 2011, 03:03:25 AM »
Hello veraplayfriends

Only 12 days until we arrive for our Vera Play stay.

Some items in our diet here in Canada that we like to have are; rolled oats, flax, Earl Grey green tea, etc.

Can anyone here tell us what to look for to get similar items at Consum or Mercadona?

thanks,

albert

I have most certainly seen and purchased rolled oats and green tea in Mercadona.
Not sure about Flax. Is that Flax oil you are after ?

You can find lots of "health food" items in Home Sweet Home in Turre.

Good answer, davenrae. Home Sweet Home are pretty good for 'Health Foods'.
Did I read somewhere that the Spanish Government are clamping down on suppliers of Herbal goods etc, because of unsubstantiated claims on their benefits. I don't know if its the Governments plan to forbid the sale of these products.
Perhaps someone else can help.

Not just the Spanish gov. There is to be a Europe wide clamp down on "health" and "herbal" suppliments which have unsubstanciated claims of health benefits. They will have to be tested and be declared "safe" but will not be able to make unproven claims. We could see many things disappear from the shelves of health food shops.
