Blue Parrot
« on: July 08, 2019, 12:10:04 PM »
Tried the Blue Parrot last night .... what a friendly place to be and the fish & chips must be the best we have ever had. Looking at other meals as they passed our table to be served we should have come earlier in the holiday so we could try everything. We cannot go home without trying the spare ribs which look superb (especially if you like generous portions).

Good luck to new owners Sarah & Kirk, you deserve the business 🙂

The Blue Parrot (on Hotel Street) is open 6pm - 2am and naturist friendly until 7:30pm.

I wonder how many naturist friendly establishments World wide have such a high Trip Advisor rating ?

Update .... The spare ribs fall off the bone and are every bit as good as they look - very highly recommended 😋 (but if you order a "large", don't expect to finish the accompanying chips etc).

Best price we found in the area.

Pint of beer €2.50

Fish and chips (not tried yet) €9.00 or €6.50 depending on portion size I think?

Here is the menu:

The Parrot has been a favorite of ours for years.Previous owners Alison and Peter were very friendly and the food was always excellent. But I think new owners Sarah & Kirk have taken things to a higher level. The place is fast becoming a lot of peoples favourite place for food and entertainment. Keep it up guys !

Speaking to Sarah during the week, unfortunately the "naturist friendly" aspect outside has had to take a back seat temporarily as they are not now open until 7pm and close very late (3am the other day) and there are only so many hours a person can work each day so it's perfectly understandable.

However, she says there are "tentative plans" to "possibly" have the upstairs open air terrace as a dedicated naturist area in 2020   :)
If this comes about it will be a case of "use it or loose it"  !

All good luck to them, they are putting in the effort - it's up to us if it pays off !!!

Used the Blue Parrot several times during our stay last week and we both highly recommend it! Had a long chat with Sarah one evening and they do have plans for the upstairs area as Phil points out and the food, service and atmosphere are top-notch.

We certainly wish them every success going forward.
